Dear Members,

We are writing this letter to inform you of a very difficult decision the Board members has had to make.

As you know, we have scheduled the Alumni Grand Reunion for the second Saturday in August for the past nineteen years and have always made our reservations well in advance at Bay Pointe so as to secure the function facility for that date. As always, we did so last summer for this summer’s event.

Although our reservations were placed, and the event location secured, we were not able to confirm a price for the dinner until last week. When we were given the price of the dinner, the cost had nearly doubled what we were charged last year.

Due to the economy and what we felt was an unreasonable charge per person, we began to look to find an alternate solution. Unfortunately, because it is so late in the season all function availabilities are already booked and we have been unable to find another location.

The Board has felt it prudent to cancel this year’s Grand Reunion and regroup for next year. While we understand that you will be disappointed, please know that we are disappointed as well. We always look forward to this event and providing the opportunity for Alumni to gather.

Again, we sincerely apologize that we are not able to make this social event happen, but we feel that if we plan a social event, it should be affordable and reasonable for those who come.

The Wareham High School Class of 1959 will celebrate their 50th reunion on October 3rd and 4th in Wareham. The events will include a Cape Cod Canal cruise, dinner at Salerno’s, a Sunday morning brunch and a golf tournament.
